AdvaMedDx Statement on Senate Precision Medicine Hearing

May 5, 2015

Andrew Fish, executive director of AdvaMedDx, issued the following statement on today’s Senate HELP Committee hearing on “Realizing the Promise of Precision Medicine for Patients”:

“We commend Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) and Ranking Member Patty Murray (D-Wash.) for holding this hearing on precision medicine, one of the most significant developments in modern medicine. Precision medicine leverages modern diagnostic tests to identify sub-populations within a disease area and tailor therapies and care specifically for those populations. This diagnostics-driven approach to medicine holds the promise of providing better patient care more efficiently and cost-effectively, targeting the best therapeutic option to the individual patient.

“Advanced molecular diagnostics are the cornerstone of the precision medicine revolution, and policies that support the timely diffusion of these technologies will be vital if they are to fulfill their enormous potential. AdvaMedDx looks forward to working with the administration, Congress, the NIH, FDA and other federal agencies to ensure the continued progress of precision medicine and advanced diagnostics.”
